Andrew Jackson Bryant dictation and biographical sketch, [ca. 1887].

Dictation, recorded for H.H. Bancroft, concerns his arrival at San Francisco in 1850; experience in the mines; business activities at Benicia, Sacramento and San Francisco; service as mayor of San Francisco from 1875. Biographical sketch based on dictation, in handwriting of Alfred Bates.

Ezekial Thatcher was clerk of the Parkville School District, Shasta County, Calif. He emigrated to California from Pennsylvania in 1850 and helped establish the first school district in the Parkville area. He is descended from the Thatchers of Uffington, England, the same family as Denis Thatcher, husband of British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. From the description of H.H.
